In case you were wondering...

the kestrels are still around! They've been here regularly for two weeks now, and our anticipation and anxiety (that they might not show up one morning) are growing by the day. The male has brought many a succulent mouse to the female as demonstration of his suitability as a mate and father. She seems satisfied so far and is spending a bit more time in the nest box.

I was able to shoot some video out our picture window, so here's a clip that I think will show why we're so excited about the prospect of this couple raising a family in our yard.
